Ecommerce Enlightenment ebook now available
I’ve recently published my first ebook called Ecommerce Enlightenment. It covers how to plan, develop and market ecommerce websites and is based on ten years of experience building these websites for clients.
Who Is This Book For?
If you’re thinking of setting up an ecommerce website, this book is for you. It takes you through a high level overview of what you’ll need to think about to make your site a success, without getting bogged down in details. Resources with more detail for each section are given throughout the text.
Why this book is needed
Ecommerce can be a powerful way to start or grow a business, with online sales taking over from the high street in many cases. There are a lot of factors to take into account, however, and mistakes can be expensive. We’ve been building ecommerce websites for over ten years and have seen clients succeed and fail. We started to see a pattern in who succeeded and who didn’t make it, so have collected all this knowledge into this guide to help you succeed.
The Process
I’ve been blogging about ecommerce for many years, so collected all those blogs into a Google Doc during a “Focus 55” hackathon at ReStation in 2017. I then spent a few months expanding on these articles, adding new material and updating things to cover changes in UK law including the recent GDPR rules.
I then had Matt design the cover and internal styles before having Claire proofread the Google Doc. Matt then produced epub and PDF versions of the book and it was checked over again.
I’m reluctant to sell the book on Amazon at this point and have put it up for sale on my own website as well as Gumroad. Gumroad handle affiliate sales and also offer products to other Gumroad users to help increase sales. I’m just about to add EE to Clickbank and recruit some affiliates, as I feel that’s the way to go, at least to start with.
I’ve been learning about ISBN numbers too and am going to get one of those so I can publish to more marketplaces via Smashwords. Pricing has been very difficult – Amazon want books to be around a tenner, but the knowledge in this ebook could be worth much. much more than that to potential ecommerce website owners.
