Freelance Freedom
I’ve got a blog about how I started up and run a freelance business, based on my 15+ years of experience offering freelance web design with FCS Websites, which became Intention web design.
The site has advice articles, quick tips and interviews with other freelancers. It’s not just web design either – freelancers can work in pretty much any area and I’ve interviewed a marketing consultant, graphic designer and a copywriter so far with many others on the way.
Find out how to:
- Choose profitable products and services
- Find new freelance clients
- Manage your time and attention
- Look after your money
- Take care of yourself to avoid depression and isolation
- Work from abroad as a location independent “digital nomad”
More and more people are becoming disillusioned with the workplace, commuting and spending 40+ hours a week making money for someone else. So many jobs are a waste of time too, with office politics and inefficiency frustrating efforts to produce good work. Not to mention the many companies selling overpriced, pointless or downright harmful or unethical products.
Create the lifestyle you want
With the rise of information based businesses and faster internet connections, it’s now possible to work from home, a co-working space or from further afield. Take control of your time and efforts to create the lifestyle you want, whether that’s in the peace and quiet of your own home, spending more time with your kids or even travelling the world and ticking things off the bucket list.
I love the ability to be able to manage my own time and work with numerous agencies, clients and business. In contrast to the old agency life where I’d work 35-40 hours a week 48 weeks per year, freelance has enabled me to work from home 1-2 days a week, work in house with 1-2 different agencies for the rest of the week so its varied. You become exposed to working & communicating with so many more people. – Matt, Designer
